Coca-Cola’s iconic Christmas advert has become a seasonal-staple for millions of households across the country; for many, Christmas doesn’t start until they see the Coke Truck appear on their television screens or in their local town.
Last year, Coca-Cola wanted to make their truck travel even further. They wanted to create a high-impact digital experience that users wanted to share, helping to spread the message that Asda is the number one destination to buy Coke at Christmas.
We devised an immersive online campaign that spread across a variety of Asda’s digital channels; from a dynamic Asda.com visual takeover where customers could prise open their own virtual Coke bow, to a bespoke Facebook campaign engaging users through competitions and exciting video content. Our solution was designed to generate maximum social noise and excitement, while also making it as easy for customers to shop Coke at Asda. ‘Add to Basket’ and ‘Shop Now’ functionality was used at retail touch-points throughout the campaign to ensure the Christmassy buzz was followed by purchasing Coke products.
The campaign was a resounding success, achieving 35% uplift of product sales vs pre-campaign with almost fifty-thousand continuous customers making purchases throughout the campaign duration. The Coke Christmas Takeover was even nominated as a finalist for a prestigious IGD E-Commerce award, making it one of our most impactful campaigns not only with customers, but also within the online retail industry.
